Malignaggi: "The fight against Berlanga left a lot of questions for Alvarez fans"

Former world boxing champion and current boxing expert and commentator Paul Malignaggi has spoken out about WBA, WBC and WBO middleweight belt holder Saul Alvarez's win over Edgar Berlanga.

"This fight left a lot of questions for Alvarez fans. He took an early knockdown as usual and then slowed down and couldn't finish Berlanga. Perhaps Saul at his current age was more comfortable acting this way, because similar moments have been seen in many of his recent fights. In the end, there was no drama in this fight.

What can we expect next from Alvarez's career? It could be a fight with Terence Crawford, but given his lackluster fight with Madrimov, I'd like to point out that the weight class is already affecting him, and if he moves up to fight Canelo, the result will be obvious. Or Alvarez can fight Chris Eubank Jr. where everything is as clear as in his fight with Berlanga," - said Malignaggi on his YouTube channel.

Recall that last weekend Alvarez defeated Berlanga by unanimous decision of the judges.
