Eddie Hearn, promoter of Edgar Berlanga, commented on his fighter's loss in his fight against unified world middleweight champion Saul Alvarez.
"I'm very proud of Berlanga. I think it was always going to be a tough task. You hope Canelo can get a little bit older, but he seemed like himself tonight. I think Edgar was great. He's never boxed anyone at this level before, but he came out and was competitive.
I know Canelo beat Berlanga convincingly, but other than a slight knockdown he wasn't shaken up. Berlanga withstood all of Canelo's punches, kept hitting back, and showed a great boxing IQ. I think a star of the second middleweight was born today," Hearn said in an interview with YouTube channel Boxing News.
Recall that this morning Alvarez defeated Berlanga by unanimous decision of the judges in the main event of the evening of boxing in Las Vegas.
