Eddie Hearn Crowns Boxing's Ultimate Champion: "He's In A League Of His Own"

Eddie Hearn just made a big move by signing lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson. The Matchroom CEO thinks Stevenson could become a huge star in boxing.

Hearn knows talent when he sees it. He's worked with some of the best fighters out there, like Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, Katie Taylor, Anthony Joshua, and Jaron 'Boots' Ennis. But he's especially excited about Stevenson.

In a recent interview with IFL TV, Hearn couldn't stop praising his new signing:

"I feel like I've promoted Shakur Stevenson for years really 'cause I've talked about him for years. I think that's something a bit unusual for promoters to talk about the ability and potential superstar status of a fighter that's not even theirs but that's how much I rate this man."

Hearn believes Stevenson has what it takes to be at the top of the sport. He went on to say:

"I know my boxing, and I know how good this kid is. He may be unbeatable, I know he's a pound-for-pound star. There's something about Shakur Stevenson's mentality that convinces me he can beat everyone. I think he's been massively unsold. He should be not just an American superstar but a global superstar. I think he's edgy, I think he's ballsy, I think he's unbelievably talented and I'm going to do everything I can to give his talent the push and the platform it deserves."

Stevenson, who used to rule the super featherweight division, has a perfect record of 22 wins with 10 knockouts. Some folks have criticized him for playing it safe in his recent fights, but that hasn't stopped him from winning.

Next up, Stevenson will defend his WBC title against Joe Cordina. The fight will be part of the undercard for the big Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitri Bivol undisputed clash.

Looking ahead, there's talk of Stevenson possibly facing off against other top fighters like Gervonta Davis or Devin Haney. With Hearn in his corner, Stevenson's star might just keep on rising.
