Malignaggi called on Alvarez to vacate his titles

Famous American boxer Paul Malignaggi believes that WBA, WBO and WBC second middleweight champion Saul Alvarez should vacate the belt if he wants to continue to choose his own opponents.

"I don't care who Canelo fights, as long as he vacates the titles. I've been talking about it for two years. I think Benavides will run him over like a train, like a car stuck on a railroad track.

Canelo's constant fear of fighting mandatory challengers only reinforces my thought on this. I don't think he'll fight Benavides. The only reason I want him to fight Benavides is because it would be a title fight, because I don't even think it would be a good fight. If Canelo vacated the belt, he could have a farewell tour like Chavez Sr. did at the end of his career," said Malignaggi.
