Jermell Charlo has been stripped of his Ring Magazine bantamweight belt due to inactivity. His last bantamweight fight was in May 2022, and his last fight was last September at super middleweight when he lost by unanimous judges' decision to Saul Alvarez. Charlo hasn't boxed since, and there has been little talk of his return in recent months.

Jermell Charlo's titles were not on the line in his fight with Alvarez, but he lost one as soon as the first gong rang. The former WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO light middleweight champion lost his absolute status by stripping the WBO belt at the very start of the fight in September 2023.

As a result, Australian Tim Tszyu was subsequently promoted to WBO world bantamweight champion status. Tszyu first successfully defended his title by defeating Brian Mendoza on points in October 2023. But lost unexpectedly to Sebastian Fundora in March this year.
