Caiomhin Agyarko recently shared in an interview with Seconds Out that after his win against Troy Williamson, communication with Matchroom Boxing dwindled. He expressed his frustration about not receiving further opportunities following what he described as a significant victory. The boxer quoted, “I went into that fight with Troy Williamson with Eddie Hearn being like ‘you need to step up, you need a big fight’. I took that, I went and beat Troy and then that was my last fight with Matchroom, everything went quiet and I heard nothing else from them..."
Agyarko's win over Williamson on the Michael Conlan vs. Jordan Gill card marked a standout performance in his career. Despite this, he has felt sidelined since the event. He stated, "It’s frustrating to come off a big win against Troy and to not have anything from Eddie [Hearn] after that. It was a big win, it was a comfortable win, a convincing win and to do it back home in Belfast to show Eddie or other promoters that I can go back to Belfast and start to headline in big fights."
Looking ahead, Agyarko is optimistic about securing fights against top ten ranked challengers. He noted interest from various promoters who are keen on organizing big bouts for him. Currently ranked ninth in EBU rankings, Agyarko remains active in training at a gym in Liverpool as he waits for another opportunity.
