Former UFC bantamweight champion Jiri Prochazka has admitted that he wants to try his hand in the middleweight division in the future.
Aljamain Sterling, a former UFC flyweight champion who recently made a successful debut in the welterweight division, would not want Max Holloway, a former featherweight champion, to return to the division.
"Gaethje missed a clean punch right to the jaw. Dudes, it was beautiful, the right overhand lied right on target. Unfortunately, Gatji had to absorb it, that's the way the game is. I know what it's like to fall face first and it sucks, hope Gatji is ok.I'm a fan of both guys and that was awesome. I hope Max leaves his ass at lightweight. We don't want him to come back," Sterling said on The MMA Hour podcast.
Former UFC middleweight champion American Sean Strickland has once again expressed his dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs in his country.
Not too long ago, Aljamain Sterling expressed his dissatisfaction with his win over Kelvin Kattar. He said that he needed to win more convincingly. However, earlier today, Sterling posted a video on his YouTube channel in which he called the win the most dominant win on the UFC 300 card.
"Our fight with Kattar at UFC 300 wasn't the most exciting fight, I agree. But it was the most dominant win in the entire card. I was probably in the top 3 in the tournament in terms of dominating my opponent. And it's important to look at this in context - Kattar usually throws 4-5 punches per minute on average. I cut that down to 0.5 per 15 minutes," Sterling said in a video on his channel.
Former UFC lightweight champion Aljamain Sterling wouldn't mind a bout with undefeated welterweight Movsar Evloyev.
"We're both grapplers, and given our styles, we can show something really interesting in the parterre," Sterling said on another edition of the "MMA Hour" program.
Yevloyev responded to Sterling's words almost immediately, writing the following post on his social media accounts:
"It was brave of you to talk about me. I love it. Call the UFC and fight me. I'm ready!".
Recall, on April 14 at UFC 300 Anniversary, Sterling made a successful debut in the welterweight division, beating Kelvin Kattar by unanimous decision of the judges.
Aljamain Sterling, former UFC lightweight champion, admitted he was afraid of Kelvin Kattar before their fight.
"Zabit knocked me out in training in 2017 when I was even smaller than I am now and had no idea who he was. The fight with Kelvin scared me because I saw how good Kattar was in the fight with Zabit. So before the fight itself, I had a lot of insecurity. It wasn't clear to me what was going to happen. So for the performance in this fight I can put myself "excellent", - wrote in his social networks Sterling.
Recall, Sterling beat Kattar by decision at the anniversary UFC 300.
On the night of April 20, PFL 3: 2024 Regular Season took place at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, USA. Andrey Koreshkov and Magomed Umalatov from Russia shared the cage in the main event.
Former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway revealed that he considers his favorite moment in his career to be his first victory over former division hegemon Jose Aldo.
Henry Cejudo, former UFC champion in two weight categories, commented on the title prospects of the promotion's middleweight prospect Bo Nickal. According to Henry, Bo needs to win 10 more fights to become champion.
"Nickal needs to have a full three-round fight. He needs to get a feel for it. After all, if he wants to be champion, he's going to have to have five-round fights against Strickland, Costa, Whittaker or Cannonier. There are a lot of tough guys fighting at middleweight. So he needs to hold his horses. I think he needs to win about 10 more fights to become champion," Sejudo said on the YouTube show Pound4Pound.
Earlier, Robert Whittaker, former UFC middleweight champion, said that Nickal is not ready for top-10 opponents.
PFL fighter Sammy-Jo Laxton, who lost her father, admitted that she now understands former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov's decision to end his career after the death of his father.
"I never understood Khabib's decision to end his career after the death of his father. Now I felt it to the core. 74 fights and at each one he was by my side. I'm not worried about the future as I will knock out 99% of my opponents even on my worst day. But it's sad that he's no longer with me. Dad, I will do everything I can to make you proud of me."
Recall, Khabib ended his career in October 2020. His professional record was 29-0.
