Covington explained his long layoff

Former interim UFC welterweight champion Colby Covington explained why he had not appeared in the Octagon since March last year, when he defeated his former sparring partner and friend on points Jorge Masvidal.

“It was a difficult time because I wanted to perform. I accepted fights against Khamzat Chimaev, Dustin Poirier and some other fighters in the division, but they all didn’t want to fight. This made me even more hungry and made me realize how much I love our sport.

I don’t feel truly alive until I’m in the Octagon. I understand that this is the true meaning of my life,” the official UFC website quotes the American.

Let us remind you that on December 16, in the main event of the UFC 296 tournament in Las Vegas, Covington will meet with the current welterweight division champion Leon Edwards.
