Cormier: “Ngannou’s success did not upset the UFC, he took our sport to a new level”

Former UFC champion in two weight classes Daniel Cormier commented on the popular opinion that the organization’s management was not very happy about the successful debut of the former title holder in the heavyweight division Francis Ngannou in professional boxing.

“Dos Santos, Adesanya, Usman, Liddell, Couture - so many great fighters were at this tournament to see Francis Ngannou do something unprecedented and unexpected. He actually performed better than anyone could have predicted.

Many believe the UFC is upset with what Francis managed to do. Why would they be upset? Last weekend, Ngannou took our sport to a new level. He went there as an MMA world champion, fought a world heavyweight boxing champion and only lost by split decision,” Cormier said on ESPN.
