UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who withdrew from the fight against Stipe Miocic due to a ruptured pectoral muscle, published an appeal to fans, the organization’s management and his would-be opponent.
Let us remind you that the Jones-Miocic fight was supposed to take place on November 11 at the UFC 295 tournament in New York, USA. The American's injury forced the promotion to organize a fight for the interim title between Sergei Pavlovich and Tom Aspinall.
“Thank you to everyone who is interested in my well-being. Obviously it's a very sad situation, I'm very upset. But I've been through a lot in my life, and injuries are an integral part of being an athlete. And I want to thank the UFC for referring me to the best doctor in the country.
I want to say thank you to Stipe Miocic for all the work he has done and also apologize to him and his team. Thanks to my coaches and sparring partners, all those who helped me get this far. The plan is to have surgery tomorrow and get back to work as quickly as possible. I guess we'll meet Stipe later - that's my plan," Jones said in a video posted on Instagram.
