John McCarthy, the legendary UFC referee, responded to the accusations that rained down against Islam Makhacheva after his early victory in a rematch with Alex Volkanovski. Fans felt that Islam broke the rules by finishing off Alex after a successful high kick. In their opinion, some of the blows during the finishing move hit the back of the head.

“Any throws thrown in this situation are considered legal,” McCarthy said.
