Makhachev turned to Volkanovski before the rematch

UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev announced that he had completed training camp for a rematch with the belt holder in the featherweight division Alexander Volkanovski, which will take place on October 21 at the UFC 294 tournament in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Let us remember that initially the Dagestani’s opponent was supposed to be Charles Oliveira, but the Brazilian received a cut and withdrew from the fight.

“This is the home stretch. All the hard work is behind us, now it's time to focus on weight cutting and fighting. We finished our last hard sparring session. Two days of rest, and on Monday we’ll go to UFC Fight Island. See you soon, buddy,” Makhachev said in an interview with the Anatomy of Fighter YouTube channel.
