The information that appeared four days ago was officially confirmed - the fight of two former world champions, Gilberto Ramirez (44-1, 30 KOs) with Joe Smith Jr. (28-4, 22 KOs). Boxers must cross gloves on October 7 in Las Vegas at an interim limit of 86.15 kg. The fight is scheduled for twelve rounds on the DAZN platform.
For both boxers, this will be a comeback after defeats in championship fights. Ramirez lost on points to Dmitry Bivol in November last year, and Smith Jr. lost ahead of schedule fourteen months ago in a fight with Artur Beterbiev.
“I am ready to take over the heavyweight reign and prove to myself that I can add another championship belt to my resume. A few years ago, Joe and I wanted to fight at light heavyweight, but now we're dating at heavyweight. See you in Las Vegas,” Ramirez told Zurdo.
“Recently, I had a hard time, and in the end, I lost my brother Alex, who always supported me. But I know that he will be in the ring with me. I can't wait for this fight to show everyone that I'm back," added Smith Jr.
