On September 10, a fight between the WBA world champion in the first heavy weight may take place in Marseille Arsen Gulamiryan (27-0, 18 KOs) and Tommy McCarthy (20-4, 10 KOs). The fate of this fight will largely depend on the decision of the court in the case brought against Canal+ by Gulamiryan's promoter Sebastian Akaries.

On August 25, a verdict will be delivered in a case in which Canal + is accused of unreasonably breaking the contract with the promoters of the reigning World Boxing Association champion. Under an agreement signed in 2020, the TV channel undertook to broadcast three fights with the participation of Gulamiryan per year and pay 450,000 euros for each such event. As a result, mainly due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there was only one such broadcast.

The boxer's promoters demand a payment of 900,000 euros. If the court grants their request, the fight with McCarthy will take place in early September. Otherwise, the match may be postponed.

The last time Gulamiryan fought was in November, beating Alexei Yegorov on points. McCarthy was recently named the official challenger to fight European Champion Michal Cieslak.
