Absolute World Lightweight Champion Devin Haney (30-0, 15 KOs) asked for a few more days to decide on his future career. The WBC initially gave the American until Friday to decide in which weight ...

Now the deadline for making a decision has been extended to Thursday. If Haney remains at lightweight, the World Boxing Council will order negotiations for his fight with Shakur Stevenson (20-0, 10 KOs), a former world champion in two weight categories and the current official contender in the weight category up to 61 kg.

A 24-year-old boxer may also decide to move up to super lightweight and fight Regis Prograis (29-1, 24 KOs), WBC champion in this weight category. Such a fight could take place in October in the USA. In this situation, the WBC lightweight belt is likely to become vacant.
