The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has announced that the world welterweight champion Jermell Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KOs) should face Tim Tszyu (23-0, 17 KOs), who is the interim champion in the same division, no later than September 30.

If the American fails to defend the belt during this time, he will be stripped of the title. Tszyu in this situation would certainly have gained the status of a full-fledged champion.

The fight between Charlo and Tszyu was originally supposed to take place at the end of January this year, but the boxer from the United States was injured at the last stage of preparation. In addition to the WBO championship belt, Charlo also holds the WBC, WBA and IBF titles.
