Gesta defeated Diaz by split decision

In a super lightweight bout that unexpectedly became the main event of the evening at Walter's Pyramid in Long Beach, California after the main event was abruptly canceled by Ramirez-Rosado, the Filipino veteran Mercito Gesta (34-3-3, 17 KOs) won a split decision victory over the former world champion and 2012 American Olympian Joseph "JoJo" Diaz Jr. (32-4-1, 15 KOs).

The fight took place in a stubborn and equal fight, after which the judges scored 99-91 and 98-92 in favor of Gesta and 97-93 to Diaz.
