In May or June, the WBC, WBA and IBF welterweight world champion will return to the ring Errol Spence Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs), recently involved in a car accident. The American was not seriously injured, but he plans to take a break from the boxing gym for several weeks.
In the summer, Spence is likely to meet with Keith Thurman (30-1, 22 KOs). Until recently, this fight was planned for February. At the recent WBC convention, Thurman was named the official contender for the fight with Spence. The fight was also approved by the WBA.
In his last professional appearance, Spence defeated Yordenis Ugas by TKO. Thurman returned to the ring in February after more than a two-year hiatus and won on points against Mario Barrios.
