In a duel for the vacant WBC super lightweight title Regis "Rugaru" Prograis (28-1, 24 KOs) won by spectacular knockout in the eleventh round over Jose "Chonom" Cepeda (35-3, 27 KOs) in the Saturday night main event at the Dignity Sports Complex in Carson, California.
Progress took control of the fight in the second round and was finally able to knock out Cepeda in the eleventh round. Before the start of the eleventh round, Prograis had a solid lead on the scorecards of 98-92, 98-92 and 97-93. Thus, Prograis became a two-time world champion.
