Jose Cepeda (35-2, 27 KOs) was involved in a traffic accident and missed open training on Monday before Saturday's fight with Regis Prograis (27-1, 23 KOs). The boxers plan to fight for the vacant WBC super lightweight title.
Undefeated for almost four years, Zepeda declares that he was not injured in the incident and nothing threatens the fight for the World Boxing Council belt.
MarvNation Promotions won the bid to host the event with a winning bid of $2.4 million. Earlier, Jose Ramirez (27-1, 17 KOs) was supposed to fight Cepeda for the vacant title of the World Boxing Council, but the American boxer said that he would not be able to prepare for this fight in time due to the wedding planned for October. Ramirez will now eventually face the winner of the Prograis-Cepeda fight.
The WBC belt in this weight class was recently held by Josh Taylor, who left it vacant by refusing to defend the mandatory challenger.
