The former heavyweight boxer is accused of overseeing the logistics of cocaine shipments aboard cargo ships traveling from South America to Europe and passing through US ports. In 2019, US authorities intercepted three such shipments - in Philadelphia, New York and New Jersey. Only on the ship intercepted by the Philadelphia police, the goods were valued at more than a billion dollars.
Gogich was supposed to be the "brain" of these operations, present at each of the loadings. He faces at least 10 years in prison, but with the same success he can be sentenced to life imprisonment.
