Eddie Hearn is in constant contact with Eddie Reynoso, mentor, coach and manager Saul Alvarez (58-2-2, 39 KOs), but claims that any moves of the Mexican will depend on the result of the duel Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) against Gilberto Ramirez (44-0, 30 KOs). WBA light heavyweight champion and surprise winner Canelo will make his mandatory title defense on November 5 in Abu Dhabi.

The Mexican star won a trilogy with Gennady Golovkin in September, but suffered a hand injury during the fight and there was a risk that he would remain out of the ring until May next year. Meanwhile, Reynoso confirmed that his pet will be ready in March.

“Every true champion wants a rematch after a loss. This would, of course, be good for Alvarez, but it would be more interesting for me to look further, higher. A possible rematch with Canelo is not as interesting to me now as before our first fight,” said Bivol, who will first need to deal with Zurdo Ramirez.

“I believe that if Canelo does not change anything, he will lose to Bivol again. He needs to bring something new to his boxing, change his style a bit and maybe even change coaches. Fighting in the same way, Alvarez, despite being a great fighter, will lose to Bivol again,” says Oscar De La Hoya, former promoter of Canelo and now promoter of Ramirez.

“The difference between Canelo and Ramirez is that Alvarez wanted to knock out Bivol with one big punch. Gilberto, on the other hand, will be much bigger and he will throw punches in longer combinations. This will be his key to defeating Bivol," De La Hoya added.
