“I send my brotherly thoughts to all Germans who are celebrating their unity today and enjoying the wonderful taste of freedom,” Klitschko said and published another message a few hours later.

“By saving Ukraine, the world will save itself so as not to drown in the sea of Russian tyranny,” the legendary champion added.

Political and economic ties between Germany and Russia, despite the gradual change in course of some German politicians, still cause reasonable disputes, and German assistance to Ukraine is often assessed as far from sufficient.

“In the longer term, we need to work on a pan-European security architecture that also includes Russia,” former German Chancellor Angela Merkel said last week, for which she was immediately criticized, among other things, by the Ukrainian embassy in Germany.

The issue of German-Russian relations is especially acute today, because the reunification of Germany was closely connected with the policy of Russia, and the growing energy crisis can be considered a consequence, in particular, of the policy of close cooperation with the Putin regime promoted by Germany.
