Former WBC heavyweight champion manager Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) Shelley Finkel claims that the American and his team will be ready to fight another former champion of the royal division Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs).
Recall that on October 15, in the WBC eliminator semi-final, Deontay Wilder will face Robert Helenius. If he wins, there could be a big fight on the horizon against AJ.
Joshua showed his mettle by demanding an immediate rematch with Oleksandr Usyk despite clearly losing the first fight. According to Finkel, the fight with Wilder will really depend on the psychological state of Joshua.
“If he wants, he can fight, he can restore himself. He will also be able to immediately go forward to Deontay. This could be a real redemption for him. Perhaps Joshua will take it that way. We are open to such a duel," Wilder's manager added.
At one time, there was a lot of talk about Wilder's fight with Joshua and even initial negotiations were underway to organize it, but in the end, the American started a rematch with Tyson Fury in February 2020. He lost ahead of schedule, and the prospect of a fight with AJ was far away.
In October 2021, Wilder's third fight with the King of the Gypsies took place, again lost by the American ahead of schedule. On the other hand, Joshua lost in September 2021 to Oleksandr Usyk and lost his IBF, WBA and WBO championship belts, and on August 20, 2022 he lost in the aforementioned rematch with the Ukrainian.
