Briedis returns to the heavyweight division

Mairis Briedis (28-2, 20 KOs) isn't going to take a long rest from boxing after his recent loss to Jay Jaye Opetaia. The 37-year-old boxer is scheduled to return to the ring on October 29 at a boxing night in Brisbane, Australia.

It will be the Latvian's debut in the super-heavyweight category and his opponent will be Justis Hoonie (6-0, 4 KOs). The 23-year old athlete, winner of amateur world championships, has been boxing in the professional ring for almost two years.

Jai Opetaia fought Briedis in July. The Latvian went into the fight as the clear favorite, but lost for the first time in more than four years.
