Prograis-Cepeda for the WBC title

Regis Prograis (27-1, 23 KOs) and Jose Cepeda (35-2, 27 KOs) were nominated to fight for the vacant WBC super lightweight title. The boxing teams have 30 days to agree on the organization of the fight.

Previously, Jose Ramirez (27-1, 17 KOs) was supposed to fight for the vacant title of the World Boxing Council with Cepeda, but the American boxer said that he would not be able to prepare for this fight in time due to the wedding scheduled for October. Ramirez will face the winner of the Prograis-Cepeda fight.

Previously, the WBC belt in this weight category belonged to Josh Taylor, who left it vacant by refusing to carry out a mandatory defense.
