Gennady Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs) spent his entire professional career in middleweight, but the trilogy with Saul Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs) will be held in the super middleweight category. Theoretically, this should play into the hands of the Mexican, who is the undisputed champion at 76.2 kg and even rose to light heavyweight. Boxing fans have yet to find out if the GGG punches that made such an impression on his opponents will do the same damage in the heavier division.

“I guess they will. I will feel comfortable in this category as well. People ask me if anything has changed, but everything looks the same. I don't see any difference, but of course I have to check it all out and try it out in official combat. I will not make any loud statements, but I will do my best to be as prepared as possible. Me and Canelo only know each other at middleweight, we don't know anything about each other at super middleweight, but we'll show ourselves there soon. However, I believe that in the new limit my punches will still make the right impression, ”said the boxer from Kazakhstan, the current unified IBF and WBA middleweight champion.

The third fight between Golovkin and Alvarez will take place on September 17 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
