Last Saturday in Las Vegas Shakur Stevenson defeated the invincible Oscar Valdez and unified the WBO and WBC featherweight titles. After that, Stevenson said that he would try to realize the scenario of the path to the absolute championship, aiming for the two remaining titles in his weight class.
However, Stevenson's promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, does not support this direction, because he does not see any promotional value in the two remaining belt holders, Kenichi Ogawa and Roger Gutierrez.
“I haven’t talked about this with my team yet, I just fought a couple of days ago. But I'm ready to fight anyone. I'm torn between a really big fight and going for all the belts," Stevenson said in an interview with DAZN.
Stevenson is ready to take part in several fights, including fights with Emanuel Navarrete and world champion in three weight categories Vasily Lomachenko.
Lomachenko in talks to fight unified lightweight champion George Kambosos, but this plan failed when Russia invaded Lomachenko's home country. Lomachenko was forced to return home to join the local defense forces. As a result, Kambosos will unify the titles with the WBC champion Devin Haney.
Both Stevenson and Lomachenko are under contract with Top Rank, which removes some of the hassle in this fight.
“The biggest fight for me right now is, I would say, Navarrete. I don't know which lightweight guys will be ready to fight me, but maybe it's a fight with Lomachenko. I'm ready for Lomachenko. Ultimately, I don't avoid meeting anyone. I don’t care who it will be, I am ready to continue in the same spirit, ”Stevenson said.
