Ankalaev expects title shot after defeating Santos

No. 6 UFC Light Heavyweight Ranking Magomed Ankalaev hopes to get a fight for the title in case of victory over Thiago Santos.

“We are moving forward. Slowly but surely. The road to the championship is always difficult, and this is what distinguishes a champion from ordinary mid-level fighters. The whole road is filled with injuries, hard work. But it all pays off when you become a winner. And the best positive aspect of all this will be the championship belt. In the octagon, I feel great and with each fight I become stronger and more experienced. It boosts my confidence.

Thiago is a good, tough opponent. But, with all due respect, for me he is just one more step on the way to the championship. If I show my best, my next fight may go for the title. It all depends on the leadership of the UFC," Ankalaev said in an interview with the UFC.

The fight between Ankalaev and Santos will take place on the night of March 13 at UFC Fight Night 203 in Las Vegas.
