Undefeated UFC welterweight Khamzat Chimaev commented on the words Conor McGregor that he was ready to help him prepare for the battle with Khabib Nurmagomedov. The fight between Nurmagomedov and McGregor took place in 2018 and ended with the victory of the Russian by submission in the fourth round.
- You had a conversation with Conor on Twitter in November, and he wrote: "I appreciate that you contacted our team in 2018 to come and help me." It's about his fight with Khabib. Is it really true?
- Of course not. There [in McGregor's training camp] there was, I think, one Chechen guy. There was a Chechen Jiu-Jitser in his gym. I went to sparring. He [McGregor] dropped it and then threw it [a photo or video online]. And for him [for a Chechen fighter] they called: “Come on, fly in, brother. You can beat him. For sparring. I wanted to go and beat him. There was nothing like that - to help someone there. It was not even when he had a fight with Khabib. I don't remember exactly... In my opinion, then the fight had not yet been announced.
Why did Conor do this? He firmly stated that you wanted to help.
- How should I know? He claims a lot. He claims something every day. I do not care. Let him think that I wanted to help him. But I wanted to beat him. And I still want it if a guy comes out to fight. To be honest, he is a decent guy. Only he cannot follow his chatter. And in sports - very worthy. You could fight him.
