According to unofficial information, Jermall Charlo (32-0, 23 KOs) is seriously considering moving up to the super middleweight division. The 31-year-old Texas fighter is currently the WBC middleweight champion.

The American allegedly makes his debut in the new weight next year and, as the reigning champion, when changing the category, he can be the designated as an official contender for the fight with Saul Alvarez. However, recently the WBC has already given a bout of David Benavides (25-0, 22 KOs) and David Lemieux (43-4, 36 KOs) the status of the eliminator in this division.

The American and Canadian teams have problems reaching an agreement, so Benavidez' representatives begin attempts to change their opponent in the fight for an interim belt with Charlo. The winner of this bout will be eligible to cross gloves with Canelo.

Jermall Charlo is also a former light middleweight champion. This year, the American had only one fight, beating Juan Montiel on points.
