About 800,000 people decided - according to preliminary estimates - to buy PPV access on Showtime for Saturday's fight of Saul Alvarez (57-1-2, 39 KO) and Caleb Plant (21-1, 12 KO) for four belts in the super middleweight division.
The PPV score differs significantly from the hit fights of previous pay-to-play star Floyd Mayweather Jr., although it's worth noting that on November 6, Alvarez and Plant competed for fan attention with UFC night.
800,000 PPV were sold in 2020 for Tyson Fury's second fight with Deontay Wilder (on ESPN and FOX). The figures obtained at that time were considered somewhat disappointing.
Part of PPV's profits will go towards royalties from Alvarez and Plant. Guaranteed earnings for both were $30 and $7.5 million, respectively.
