Former Bellator middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko shared his opinion on a possible fight between famed compatriot Fedor Emelianenko and former world boxing champion Roy Jones.
"There are a lot of different fights in boxing lately with non boxers, so why not. I would be interested to see such a fight. Especially since Fedor has mostly only boxed in his recent fights: you get a not very technical boxing Fedor vs technical boxing Jones. Although I think Emelianenko is the favorite, and Roy will have a very hard time.
"Having a fight in the off-season, making himself known is a good option for Fedor. Besides, there is a worldwide trend for such fights right now: Mike Tyson fought Roy Jones, there are blogger fights and a lot of other things like that. We always do what America does. So they have their own freak fights, we have our own. What's wrong with that? Fedor is unequivocally a hero in our country and Jones is more of a hero here than in the US at the moment. I don't see anything catastrophic for Fedor's career. He's clearly not going to have a possible title fight anytime soon," said Shlemenko.
