Russell Mora will be the third man in the ring when Saul Alvarez (56-1-2, 38 KOs) and Caleb Plant (21-0, 12 KOs) meet this coming Saturday in Las Vegas. The Nevada State Athletic Commission has announced the officiating lineup.

Mora has refereed one Plant fight before - in September 2017, when he fought Andrew Hernandez and won by unanimous decision in 10 rounds. This experienced referee in the ring had to deal with Canelo more than once. He refereed his fight against Sergey Kovalev for WBO light-heavyweight belt, which Canelo won in 11th round. Interestingly, he also serviced his June 2009 fight against Jefferson Luis Gonzalo (KO 9), when Alvarez was still a little-known "welterweight".

If the bout goes the full distance, Patricia Morse Jarman, Steve Weisfeld and Dave Moretti will decide the winner.

Patricia Morse Jarman counted (20-17) in Plant's fight with Mike Lee, which the IBF champion finished in the third round. So far, she hasn't dealt with Canelo.

Steve Weisfeld judged Plant's fight against Jamar Freeman (80-71) in September 2015, which Caleb won by unanimous decision of the judges. Weisfeld has had more business with Saul, counting him out with wins against Callum Smith (119-109), Daniel Jacobs (115-113) and in a rematch with Gennady Golovkin (115-113).

And finally, Dave Moretti, who has never judged Plant but has distinguished himself with bouts against Avni Yildirim (20-18 - TKO 3), Sergey Kovalev (96-94 - TKO 11), Daniel Jacobs (115-113) for Alvarez, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (120-108), Miguel Cotto (119-109), Erislandy Lara (115-113), Alfredo Angulo (89-82 - TKO 10), and his only career loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. (112-116). Moretti also served two of Canelo's fights against Gennady Golovkin. He handed Golovkin a 113-115 win in the first fight, and he favored Alvarez 115-113 in the second fight by the same score.
