Shevchenko reacts to Khabib's high-profile words about ring girls

The dominant UFC featherweight champion Valentina Shevchenko commented on Khabib Nurmagomedov's sensational words regarding ring girls. Earlier, the former UFC lightweight champion called them "the most unnecessary people in martial arts."

"Ringgirls have been around since the first UFC fight and since the beginning of any fighting sports. And to say that they are irrelevant to martial arts is very wrong. It's wrong because they are part of it. You could say that without them, no fighter would be in the position they are in now. If there were no girls in the octagon, no lights, no fans, no soundtrack - it would be boring to watch.

"All these little details make up the whole picture. That's why there shouldn't be any discussion - girls in the ring are part of big promotions as well as small ones," Shevchenko said in an interview with MMA News reporter James Lynch.
