Caleb Plante (21-0, 12 KOs) is doing his best to go into his all-around middleweight title bout against Saul Alvarez (56-1-2, 38 KOs) on November 6 in his best form. The American even has a secret weapon in the form of Andre Ward.
In the upcoming fight, Plante puts his IBF title on the line, while the Mexican will add the WBC, WBA and WBO trophies. Plante is an uncomfortable opponent for any boxer in this division, but most experts expect that, like Billy Joe Saunders, Canelo will break his opponent in the second half of the fight.
Ward hasn't lost a boxing fight since his teenage days. He first achieved Olympic gold and then conquered the super middleweight and light heavyweight categories. His biggest advantage was his high IQ in the ring. According to an eyewitness, even if one sparring didn't go his way, he corrected mistakes in the next one and prevailed. Ward showed these skills in his two fights against Sergey Kovalev. Ward is now helping Plante to prepare and develop his tactical plan for the fight.
