UFC President Dana White has announced that welterweight champion Kamaru Usman will face Colby Covington in his next fight.
“This fight will take place. Covington is the top contender in this division. Usman didn’t want Colby to insure his fight with Masvidal. He said, "I want to fight Jorge, then I will have a training camp, and then I will face Covington." I'm going to start organizing this fight," White said in an interview with MMAJunkie.
On April 25 at UFC 261 Usman made his fourth title defense by knocking out Jorge Masvidal in the second round.
Usman and Covington have already met in the Octagon - in December 2019 Kamaru won by technical knockout in the fifth round.
