WBC and WBA super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (54-1-2, 36 KOs) in an interview to TV Azteca talked about his unwillingness to fight with compatriots and rising to the light heavyweights again. Canelo also named the opponent whom he intends to fight in the future.

“I represent Mexico and I don’t like fighting Mexicans, I don’t see any point in that. I see the potential of Jaime Mungia, but he still has a few fights to reach that level. I don't give up on anything, but I don't like it yet.

"Eddie (Reinoso, coach of Alvarez - editor) does not want me to rise up to the light heavyweights again. I want to win all the titles in my division and now the idea is to meet Anthony Dirrell and then we will see what happens next,” the Mexican said.

Saul also confirmed that he wanted to hold a duel in Mexico, but it was impossible to organize this due to the coronavirus pandemic: "We hope to do this in the future and fill the stadium."

On February 27 in Miami, Alvarez will cross gloves with Avni Yildirim (21-2, 14 KOs).
