Ortiz stops Flores in 45 seconds

Luis Ortiz (32-2, 27 KOs) successfully returned to the ring after losing the fight for the WBC champion Deontay Wilder as part of a boxing Premier Boxing Champions event in California, knocking out Alexander Flores (18-2-1, 16 KO) in 45 seconds. The fight was decided by a punch to the body, although it is doubtful if it was strong enough to provoke such a reaction.

On the same evening, another Cuban heavyweight Frank Sanchez (16-0, 12 KOs) successfully defended his WBA NABO title against Brian Howard (15-4, 12 KOs). The Cuban Flash showed sharp and dynamic boxing, stopping an ambitious opponent in the fourth round. Before the fight was stopped, Howard had been on the floor three times.

In another fight in the Royal Division, Michael Coffey (11-0, 8 KOs) defeated Joey Abell (35-11, 33 KOs) by TKO in the second round. Coffey ended the fight a split second after Abell suffered a bicep injury during the attack, which prevented him from continuing the fight after his opponent fell.

Also that evening, Carlos Negron (22-3, 18 KOs), a heavyweight from Puerto Rico, defeated Rafael Rios (11-3, 8 KOs) by TKO in the second round.
