The World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) has officially confirmed that the final bout in the cruiserweight division of Mairis Briedis (26-1, 19 KOs) and Yunier Dorticos (24-1, 22 KOs) will take place in Munich on September 26. The fight will take place without fans.
Problems with determining the date of the confrontation of the Latvian and the Cuban have continued since last year. Initially, it was reported that the fight will take place in December 2019, but its date was postponed several times.
In the spring, it was planned that the duel would take place in mid-May, but the date turned out to be impossible due to the coronavirus pandemic. Travel restrictions prevented boxers from fully preparing for the fight. The problems were also reported by the IBF, whose championship title will be at stake in the meeting.
The WBSS bosses had planned for the third season to start this year. However, most likely, we will have to wait at least a few months more before the new season begins.
