Two years ago Jorge Linares (47-5, 29 KOs) met Vasyl Lomachenko (14-1, 10 KOs) in the ring. Linares lost in the tenth round, but before that he was able to send the Ukrainian to the floor. Today Jorge is convinced that we are witnessing the beginning of the end of the great champion's career.

According to the Venezuelan boxer, it’s not Lomachenko’s age, but rather the depletion of his body. The next fight of the WBC, WBA and WBO lightweight champion is due for the fourth and final belt on October 3 against Teofimo Lopez (15-0, 12 KOs).

Linares was unlucky before his next fight - the former world champion in three weight categories tested positive for COVID-19 and missed the fight against Javier Fortuna (35-2-1, 24 KOs).

“Guys like Golovkin and Lomachenko are already slowly moving towards the end of their careers. Their best time is over. Lomachenko is not the same boxer he was when he entered the ring with me. After that, he did not give such grandiose fights as before. Two years can make a difference in our careers. Both Lomachenko and Golovkin trained too much and too hard throughout their lives. Therefore, their time is inexorably coming to an end. I'm 35 soon and I'm still in great shape,” Linares said.
