John Ryder (28-5, 16 KOs) team has filed an official protest on the outcome of Saturday's fight against Callum Smith (27-0, 19 KOs). The fight for the WBA super middleweight title has become the main event of the boxing evening in Liverpool.
After twelve rounds the judges scored it 116-112 twice and 117-111 in favor of Smith. Yet in this case, the fight turned out to be much closer than it looked on the scorecards.
Ryder approached this fight in the status of WBA interim champion. Now he demands from the World Boxing Association to order Smith to have the second fight in the first quarter of next year.
