Vasyl Lomachenko (14-1, 10 KOs) became the second boxer after Saul Alvarez, who was appointed with the recently invented belt WBC Franchise.

World Boxing Council decision in practice means that the Ukrainian, which is also WBA and WBO lightweight champion, will not be required to defend his title against Devin Haney (23-0, 15 KO), who is an interim WBC champion.

In this situation, Lomachenko will wait for the result of the December fight for the IBF belt between Richard Commey (29-2, 26 KOs) and Teofimo Lopez (14-0, 11 KOs) and will hold a unification bout for the full set of trophies in the first half of 2020 in his weight category. Meanwhile, Devin Haney is likely to be named a full-fledged WBC champion soon.
