Saul Alvarez (52-1-2, 35 KOs) is out of the ring until November. The Mexican is still in the mood to fight WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (33-3-1, 28 KOs), who will hold his next fight on Aug. 24 in Chelyabinsk against Anthony Yarde.
If Kovalev cope with Yarde, he will receive an offer to fight Canelo in November in the United States. Negotiations on this issue were ongoing in June, but at that time the Russian was not satisfied with proposed financial terms. This time the proposal is expected to be more attractive.
29-year-old Alvarez, who is the highest paid fighter in the world, was expected to return to the ring in September. Later, there were negotiations about his possible return to the middle of October, but now the Mexican is likely to return to the ring at the end of the year.
Canelo has recently lost his IBF middleweight title, which severely disrupted his relationship with his promoters of Golden Boy Promotions. The Mexican wanted to keep this belt, but his promoters had other plans. Alvarez also holds WBC and WBA middleweight belts.
