In a tactical but exciting fight, Saul Alvarez (52-1-2, 35 KOs) won a unanimous decision over Daniel Jacobs (35-3, 29 KOs) before 20 203 spectators at the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The scores were 115-113, 115-113, and 116-112.

The fight was equal with very close rounds, any of which could be given in any direction, and even become a draw. With the victory, Canelo acquired the IBF belt, which belonged to Jacobs, and added it to his WBA and WBC middleweight belts.
