Undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (16-0, 12 KOs) said that after the behavior of Marco Huck (41-5-1, 28 KOs) before the WBSS quarterfinal, he wanted to punish him in the ring: “I wanted to punish him, but the referee intervened, and not let be to finish him, Marco got what he deserved.”

“What happened to Marco Hook? It was something incredible, he was burning like a wooden house, he was burning and there was no fire extinguisher. He was calling names, swearing and jostling. Well, of course, I wanted to punch him, I punched him to the liver very well.

“But after all, it is clear that when he stands beaten, then you become kinder to a person. I didn’t have any anger to him, I just wanted to punish him in a beautiful sporting way. So, it turned out. Plus the referee helped him, although it was possible to wait another ten seconds, so, I think, he would receive five more punches.”

Usyk defeated Hook by a technical knockout, then he passed Mairis Briedis by a majority decision, and declassified Murat Gassiev in the WBSS final.
