Klitschko vs Lewis rematch: in gloves, but no fight

WBC champion emeritus Vitali Klitschko and world boxing legend Lennox Lewis met in boxing gloves. This boxing stars appearance took place during the opening ceremony of the 56th Congress of the World Boxing Council (WBC) in Kiev. Champions, 15 years after the fight, shared their emotions and commented on the brightest moments of the battle. Not without jokes and discussion of the issue, who won.

“A fight took place 15 years ago, which until today is spoken by millions of people in the world,” Vitali said. “Today our ring is a stage and we can comment on this fight.”

Vitali said that if the doctor had not stopped the fight because of the cut on his face, he would have knocked Lewis out in the next round. Vitali also thanked Lewis for the fact that the fight gave him a chance to demonstrate that he is one of the strongest boxers in the world.

“Lennox gave me a chance to show that I am one of the strongest boxers in the world. All boxing fans, commentators appreciated my skills,” Vitali noted. “Today many people want to see the Klitschko vs Lewis fight again, but sorry, unfortunately, this will not be the case".

Lennox Lewis noticed that he watched the fight about 30 times and would watch it again and again. He called Klitschko the most difficult of his rivals. “It was a great fight. And I want to call you my most difficult opponent. It was an impressive fight,” said Lewis. “If Vitali had said something about my mother here, I could have fought him now, but he is a very nice guy,” Lennox Lewis joked.

Also, the battle of champions was commented by the doctor Paul Wallace, who stopped the fight because of a severe cut on Vitali’s face. Vitali asked doctor as a joke, if Lewis negotiated with him to stop the fight.

“I know that you fought like champions. And I know that you, Vitali, could give your eyesight for this belt. But you have a great future. In sport, you have proved everything. Now you are proving something else,” said Wallace.
