Ramirez beats Orozco, defends WBC title

Andrew Karlov Sept. 14, 2018, 11:23 p.m.

Jose Ramirez (23-0, 16 KOs) scored a unanimous decision over Antonio Orozco (27-1, 17 KOs) and defended his WBC super lightweight title. Their meeting was the main event of the boxing evening from Top Rank, organized in Fresno, California.

26-year-old Ramirez has traditionally imposed a high rate on the enemy from the very first round. Orozco tried to keep up with his rival, but Ramirez was more active and effective.

Orozco was knocked down in the fourth and eighth rounds. Antonio still managed to hold out until the final bell, but obviously lost this meeting. All three judges put the same score 119-107 in favor of Ramirez, for whom it was the first defense of his belt won in March.
