Former UFC lightweight title holder Tony Ferguson will fight the former champion Anthony Pettis on October 6 at the UFC 229 tournament in Las Vegas. 31-year-old Pettis in his last eight fights scored only three wins and five defeats. On July 7 Showtime was able to stop Michael Chiesa, which allowed him to return to the top-10 of the lightweight division.
The 34-year-old Ferguson won an interim title last October, having won by the submission over Kevin Lee. In April, Tony had to fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov for a full title, but four days before the fight he broke the cruciate ligaments of the knee. Ferguson, who is on a winning series of ten fights, was stripped of his belt.
