This May Diaz lost by unanimous decision to Gary Russell, Jr. in a meeting with the title of another version at stake. Now, even if he wins in the Saturday fight, Diaz will not get the title and the belt, according to WBA rules, will remain with Rojas.
Overweight Diaz was fined 20% of his fee ($10,000) from his $50,000 purse. Half of this money will go to the California State Athletic Commission, the second half will go to Rojas plus to his $60,000 purse.
